You can stuff a lot of things in there. It has got compartments, but there is no zipper on top. There is a pouch inside though.

I love this tote! I have one in black, but I like it so much that I often consider ordering it in the beige as well. The microfiber cleans so easily. All you have to do is wipe is with a damp cloth or tissue and anything on there will come right off. It has plenty of room to carry my day planner, journal, wallet, keys, cell phone, cigarettes, and compact. There's no close on the top, but there is a small strap you have the option of clasping that will keep large items from falling out (like a day planner) if your purse gets knocked over. There's also a inside zip pocket to protect smaller items. Overall, this is GREAT purse! I would certainly recommend purchasing one.
